DIY Success Stories
An inventive guy named Ed added a whole DIY bedbug eradication section to his website where he posts various projects that he works on. This guy got bed bugs and had fun with them!!!!! You can find the main page of the section on bed bugs here.
I like his section called Living on Planet Sticky. It’s very thorough as to how he goes about creating islands with masking tape. Apparently, he found bugs this way but smaller tape traps around the legs of things did not result in any bugs. Also, they used homemade climb-up type interceptors with different powders inside and there is at least one instance where a bedbug was found.
They go over many of the same things I go over in my DIY section and they use Diatomaceous Earth and heat to help along the process.
He created a heat chamber! I like this guy! I suppose if he had the materials in his basement, this may cost less than the PackTite. But I think he just did it because it’s fun to make things!
The thing I love the most about all of this is that it is reminiscent of my experience in that there are hardly any visible signs only, unlike my own experience, his tape experiments produced evidence. I am tempted to get an air mattress and lie in the living room in an island created with tape just to see what I find. I once found a silverfish in my home. Maybe if I sleep in the island with a stack of books and slice of pizza, all manner of critters will come around. Of course, the spiders probably won’t find any reason to meander by.
It took him three months to get rid of them. He’s been bite free for a month.
Thank you Ed!
